On September 19 2001, Sealife announced a new model to the DC-series, the Sealife DC1400 underwater camera system. The Dc1400 replaces the DC1200 underwater system.  This is a camera and underwater housing system which can accept various accessories to allow divers to capture beautiful HD videos and still underwater. It features a 14MP sensor and can record 720 HD videos. The camera was tested to withstand depth pressure to 200 feet (60 meters) and it’s certainly represents a new step over the DC1200 in terms of the technology is packs inside. In this article, I want to review and talk about the “Liquid Image Scuba Series” diving mask camera. This underwater goggles camera was designed for experienced scuba divers and it’s a part of Liquid image’s line of cameras, including the “Explorer  Series”  and “Summit Series”.  The idea behind this camera is to have a scuba mask with an integrated HD digital camera in is, so you shoot videos hands-free and focus on the underwater sea-life experience, instead of occupying one or even two hands with a waterproof video camera. Those types of underwater photography products are known as “Scuba diving Mask cameras” or “Goggles cameras“, and Liquid Image goggle cameras among the best out there. Let’s dive a bit deeper and have a closer look at this popular product. Continue reading “Liquid Image Scuba Camera Mask HD 322” »

In this article I want to give as much attention as possible to the SeaLife DC1200 Elite Digital Camera (Item #SL708).  The thing is with UW photography is that it that the equipment is very expensive, at least if you want a pro-grade gear that can withstand depth pressure of up to 200 ft / 60 m. Buying a simple UW camera won’t be enough for many reasons, like limited depth pressure, durability, ergonomic and available accessories. For that professional divers and UW photographers spend money buying expensive underwater photography gear that can operate deep in the ocean and protect it. When you want to shoot underwater, you have several options to choose from, the two most popular ones is to purchase a waterproof camera or to purchase a special underwater housing to protect your camera in deep waters. Olympus has a very nice range of housings for its PEN mirrorless cameras, as well as for its mirrorless and DSLR cameras in the E-System. The idea is to allow divers to explore the underwater photography world and to easily operate the camera up to 45 meters in underwater pressure. If you are an amateur photographer who don’t need special requirements and intend to use it up to 10 meters deep, you should check out the Olympus TG-810, instead of buying a fairly expensive housing. When we search for a waterproof digital camera, we can’t overlook the availability of pocket waterproof camcorders, which start to become very popular these days and gain more attention in the summer. In this article I want to talk about the Samsung W200 Full HD 1080p pocket camcorder, which is water, shock and dust proof. The W200 is certainly a non-conventional looking digital camera. Most pocket camcorders of this kind are designed to be held vertically for better ergonomics. This is especially useful when shooting underwater because it provides better ergonomics as you want to swim-and-shoot. The W200 Waterproof cam is a unique digital camera that hosts a bunch of highly advanced features that really makes shooting video more fun, both in and out of the water. In this article I want to introduce to you the Kodak EasyShare Sport Camera. The EasyShare Sport was announced on January 4, 2011. We are looking at a cheap waterproof camera, which became very popular due to its low price and relatively high specifications. Today I asked myself, how many people have used a waterprood camera to take photos of the Hurricane Irene in New-York? – I guess that some of the videos and stills were shot using a rugged camera of some kind. The thing is that many of us want to have a rugged camera in our dispose so we can use it in tough weather conditions, in times when we just can’t use our regular camera. Let’s explore the this underwater camera from Kodak and see if it worth the $80 Kodak asks for (street price is less, price at the end of this article). In this article I want to talk about the Fujifilm FinePix XP30 waterproof camera.  It’s worth mentioning that Fuji has released a second model called XP20, which is virtually identical to the XP30, but doesn’t include a GPS. So when we get to learn the XP30 from up close, remember that there is another model that comes without a built-in GPS receiver. The FinePix XP30 was announced in January 5, 2011. Back than FujiFilm was very proud introducing this camera, which was the world’s first water, shock, dust and freeze proof camera that also comes with a built-in GPS. The XP30 waterproof camera has a lot of cool functions and it certainly looks pretty cool too. Let’s dive deep into FujiFilm’s latest Waterproof camera and see whether it’s worth your money and how it is compared to other rugged cameras that we’ve reviewed here on WaterProofCam.com. Let’s start.. Continue reading “How Rugged is Fujifilm XP30 compared to the competition?” »

Pentax has been in the underwater photography since 2006. Since then, Pentax has introduced a few waterproof digital cameras that have become popular among outdoor photographers. Some of the known models were Pentax Optio W80, W90 and WS80. The Pentax Optio WG-1 represents a 12th generation of Waterproof cameras in the W-Series. In February 7 2011, Pentax announced two models of the WG-1, one with a built-in GPS and another without. A month earlier, Sony announced the availability of the Sony Cybershot DSC-TX10, a Waterproof, Shockproof, Dustproof and Freeze proof Ultra-compact digital camera. Both the Olympus TOUGH TG-810 and Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT3/TS3 are among the best waterproof P&S digital camera both companies have to offer.  There are both highly durable compact cameras which are Shockproof, Waterproof and Freezeproof.
